Convector or Heating Panel? A Comparison That Clears Up Doubts
Do you know that feeling?
The temperature in the house seems to be "normal", but in the evening, when you're sitting on the couch, the chill from the floor still makes itself felt.
Central heating is working, but you need an additional source of heat – something that works quickly, cheaply, and doesn’t require renovation.
Most often, the choice comes down to two solutions:
👉 classic convector heater or
👉 modern infrared heating panel.
Both are electric. Both provide warmth.
But the way they do it – is completely different.
How Does a Convector Heater Work?
It is a device that heats the air.
Inside, there is a heating element that warms the air flowing through it.
Warm air rises, cold air falls – and this creates circulation.
The effect?
The temperature in the room rises relatively quickly, but the heat is uneven – warmer near the ceiling, cooler near the floor.
Dust also circulates with the air, and for allergy sufferers or people with sensitive respiratory tracts, this is often a noticeable difference.
Advantages of Termofol Convector Heaters:
- easy installation (just a 230 V socket),
- temperature regulation and programmable timer,
- attractive price – a great temporary solution.
- Mobility – models equipped with transport wheels and lightweight design make it very easy to move the device where it is most needed.
- Mobility also helps in situations when we don’t need the device at all – for example, after the heating season, we can easily store it in a box and put it away in a closet or basement.

Disadvantages:
- air movement = dust and dry air,
- heats only the air, not surfaces,
- cools down quickly after being turned off.
Convector heater works well where quick heating for a short time is needed – for example, in a summer house, bathroom, or bedroom at night.
And What Is an Infrared Heating Panel?
Unlike the convector, the infrared heating panel does not heat the air – it heats you and your surroundings.
It uses far infrared waves, the same phenomenon we know from the sun's rays.
The warmth is felt immediately upon turning it on, but its action is different:
infrared waves heat the walls, floor, furniture, and people, and only later do they release heat to the air.
The effect?
Heat that is even, pleasant, and lasts longer, even after the device is turned off.
Infrared heating panels are most often installed on walls and ceilings, permanently. Some models can be equipped with legs or wheels that allow for easier movement of the device.
What Distinguishes Termofol Heating Panels?
Termofol – as one of the leaders in electric heating in Poland – offers glass, metal, and decorative panels (e.g., with UV printing, like the model TF-SWT1000).
Their biggest advantages:
- No air movement – ideal for allergy sufferers.
- Pleasant, natural warmth like sunlight.
- Energy efficiency – models equipped with a thermostat only heat when the sensor detects a drop in temperature.
- Modern control – remote control and Termofol Smart (Wi-Fi) app. Ability to turn on before arriving at a mountain cottage and warm up the bathroom.
- Aesthetics – elegant appearance, possibility of printing graphics or photos on heating panels.
- Maintenance-free – no servicing, replacements, or inspections.

This is heating that does not stand out, but is felt in every inch of the room.
Particularly noteworthy are the models that can also be personalized through printing done by TERMOFOL using UV technology – you can learn more about them from our video material – HERE.
This printing is resistant to mechanical damage and sunlight. It does not fade under the influence of temperature and sunlight, and the quality of the print allows for the preservation of even small details captured in the photo or graphic. Importantly, the print does not affect the heating properties of the device in any way.

Costs and Efficiency
Both convectors and panels operate on electricity, but their operational efficiency is different.
The convector consumes energy to heat the air, which quickly cools down after being turned off.
The panel uses energy more effectively – heat remains in the walls and furniture.
Thanks to this, Termofol heating panels consume even 20–30% less energy while providing similar thermal comfort.
Conclusions
If you need quick heating – choose a convector.
If you care about comfort, lasting warmth, and modern design – go for Termofol heating panels.
