Ways to Prevent a Steamed-Up Mirror. How to Avoid Mirror Fogging? General information

A steamed-up mirror after a hot bath or shower is a common problem that you have undoubtedly encountered before. The condensation on the mirror surface makes it difficult to see your reflection. Fortunately, there are effective ways to prevent a steamed-up mirror. Find out why mirrors fog up and what to do to stop this process.

Why Does a Mirror Fog Up?

When you take a hot or at least warm shower or bath, the water used for washing evaporates. The condensation occurs due to the temperature difference. The warm steam quickly settles on cold surfaces: tiles, bathroom furniture, and finally on the mirror surface. Now that you know why mirrors fog up, learn how to prevent it.

How to Prevent a Steamed-Up Mirror? Ensure Proper Bathroom Ventilation

A steamed-up mirror is an annoying problem, especially when you are in a hurry to get to work or an important event after a bath. Of course, you can wipe the mirror surface with your hand, but then the reflection will be blurred. Therefore, instead of wiping the mirror after it has fogged up, it is better to prevent the condensation.

There are several ways to prevent a mirror from fogging up in the bathroom. First and foremost, ensure proper ventilation and regular airing of the room. If there is a window in the bathroom, open it or at least crack it after each bath. If there is no window in the room, which is very common in block apartments, open the bathroom door wide after a shower. Regular airing and proper ventilation reduce mirror fogging.

Heated Mirror

You might also consider purchasing a heated bathroom mirror with a special heating mat or heating film installed at the back. Such mats and films are the most effective way to eliminate unwanted steam and avoid unsightly streaks that result from wiping. As a result, the mirror surface will be warm, preventing it from fogging up. Importantly, installation is extremely simple, and the power supply should be connected to the bathroom lighting.
